Explore Our Sponsorship Programs

Our diverse sponsorship programs encompass various grade levels and subjects, strategically crafted to shape the minds of future generations and create a lasting impact in the lives of children. On average, 94% or more of CCS students graduate from high school on time, compared to the current average of about 70% in Waterbury.
Whether students pursue further education, technical training, or enter the job force, CCS alumni consistently contribute positively to the community. Presently, our alumni hold roles as social workers, police detectives, firefighters, bank tellers, and proudly serve as parents to future CCS students!
Take a look at an overview of our programs to understand their reach and the opportunities they provide.
OVERVIEW
School mentoring programs play a crucial role in enhancing the positive relationships students foster in their lives, thereby encouraging academic success. These programs contribute to a sense of connectedness within the school environment and among peers, foster improved relationships with educators, staff, and other adults, instill confidence, and facilitate the utilization of various support mechanisms such as tutoring, counseling, and educational planning.
In our mentoring initiative, adult mentors are carefully matched with one or two students for the duration of the school year. They meet weekly after school, engaging in conversations, enjoying snacks, playing games, and offering homework assistance when necessary.
The primary objective of a mentor is to provide compassionate guidance to the student. Through these mentorships, enduring bonds often develop, extending beyond the student's time at CCS, lasting for years.

OVERVIEW
Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) were established in 2015 and are required by the Connecticut Department of Education and incorporated into the CCS curriculum. They were developed by states to improve science education for all students and hold promise to reduce opportunity gaps for girls, Latinos, African Americans, English learners, students with disabilities, low-income students and others who have been historically underrepresented in science education and careers.
Impact on Students
Research studies demonstrate that children exposed to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at an early age through hands-on learning tend to develop a deeper understanding of STEM concepts as they progress in their education. Engaging in STEM-related studies correlates with students pursuing higher education and positions them well to access job opportunities in the future.

OVERVIEW
The modern classroom is now dependent on tools that were introduced only a few years ago. At CCS, every student (including Pre-K) is assigned either a Chromebook or iPad. Each classroom has a SmartBoard and every administrator works with a desktop or laptop computer. Anticipating the use of up to 175 devices simultaneously, it’s essential to establish a reliable support system that is consistently available during our operating hours.
Both access to technology and the ability to utilize it are crucial for students as they pursue their education and prepare for the workforce. Children from low-income households require the same fundamental tools as their peers to compete effectively in the future.
Program Costs
- Internet Access with Comcast at 300 Mbps speed.
- Monthly fee to Beyond IT Support for computer hardware/software maintenance and Nexxacom for phone support.
- Equipment needed for infrastructure like modem, wi-fi boosters and cabling throughout the building.
- Indirect costs associated with service coordination and electrical power.
